Who we are

We are the National Deaf Children’s Society’s (NDCS) local group for Berkshire and the surrounding areas. Berkshire Deaf Children’s Society (BerkshireDCS) is a voluntary organisation run by devoted parents of hearing impaired children.
We want a world without barriers for deaf children and young people, and we aim to ensure that our deaf children have the same opportunities as hearing children to reach their full potential.
We offer emotional and social support to families with deaf children, and give deaf children the chance to meet outside of school. We have around 80 member families

The committee is made up of mums and dads of children with a hearing impairment. We give our time on a totally voluntary basis, and we have loads of fun meeting up to organise activities. We each take on a specific role within the organisation, playing to our strengths, but we are all happy to muck in whenever needed. This is who we are:

If you would like to join the committee and help run BDCS, whether it’s organising an event, coming along to a meeting (we get together about once every 6 weeks or so) or generally helping out, we’d welcome you with open arms! Please contact us to find out when the next meeting is.
